Houston housing considerations

Houston offers many, many options for housing. In fact, you may even find that one of the biggest challenges of finding housing in Houston is that there are so many options! 

When searching for housing, keep in mind, there is no one "right" place – the decision depends on your personal preferences. Our new hires and interns tend to live in just about every part of the city.

When selecting a place to live, be sure to take into consideration both "miles from your housing to your office" and "the time it takes to drive from your housing to your office in traffic".  This is especially important in larger cities like Houston.  Sometimes apartments that are a greater distance away from the office may actually be a quicker drive to the office if you will be driving against traffic.   

Apartment Locator Service
Consider contacting an Apartment Locator Service as a way to get started. This service is typically free to use. They will ask for the basic requirements that you are looking for (location preferences, length of lease, rent amount, apartment size, etc.), then will be able to provide you with a list of the properties/maps that meet these parameters. An example of an Apartment Locator Service is Apartment Directions at 713-789-3777or information@ahpca.com. Note that we do not have a preference as to which Apartment Locator service you use and there is not an “official” ConocoPhillips Locator Service. The service listed is one that some of our recent new hires recommended – there are many others in Houston that you can find through a quick web search.
